Significant investment in pipelay infrastucture

Kaztec Engineering Limited has acquired a pipelay and construction barge to support its Nigerian wide operations.

Kaztec Engineering Limited, an Abuja based leading engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commission (EPCIC) company, and subsidiary of Chrome Group has acquired a pipelay/derrick and construction barge to support its Nigerian wide operations.

The 350 ft by 100ft barge has a depth of 25ft and a main fixed lifting capacity of 800 tons. It comes complete with accommodation for about 220 people on board, a helideck, amongst other sophisticated facilities.

Renamed Ekulo Cheyenne by Kaztec Engineering Limited, the pipelay/derrick barge is used to set jacks, lay pipelines from 2 inch to 42 inch, and operates within waters not exceeding 100 meters in depth, beyond which specific engineering calculations would have to be done. When operating at full capacity, using the 8 inch pipe for example,, the Ekulo Cheyenne can lay 200 pipes of 12 ½ meter length each, per day, which is about 2.2 kilometres of pipeline.
